Tom Mix radio show started out in New York City on September 25, 1933. Artells Dickson was the lead character. Percy Hemus was "The Old Wrangler." The first script writer for Tom Mix was Roland martini. The Tom Mix Radio show was a big hit sponsored by Ralston Cerial.

After two seasons in New York the production of the show was moved to Chicago. Jack Holden becme the new voice of Tom Mix. Hal Peary and Willard Waterman were added to the show with supporting roles. Charles Tazewell became the new script writer for the next nine years. Tazewell was an eccentric fellow who wore a heavy overcoat at all times including hot summer days.
